Packers.com has consulted more than two dozen mock drafts from reputable national outlets and compiled a list of players most frequently mocked as draft selections in the latter portion of the first round (picks 18-28) who could be available when the Packers are on the clock at No. 23 overall.

Between now and draft day, those players will be profiled with thumbnail sketches and videos known as "Prospect Primers."

Today's player is …

Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M

Height/Weight: 6-5, 267

Key stats: Recorded just 1½ sacks each of the last three seasons but notched a career-high 31 tackles in 2024, with seven QB hits.

College honors: Named to the SEC all-freshman team in 2022 and third-team All-SEC last season.

Background/other info: A high-upside prospect seen as having all the physical tools, but they haven't yet translated to the pass-rush production expected. Didn't become a full-time starter until last season as a junior, but still recorded just 1½ sacks in 2024, matching his totals from the previous two years. Slimmed down from 281 pounds at the Senior Bowl to an ultra-lean 267 at the scouting combine and ran an impressive 4.59 40-yard dash with a 40-inch vertical jump, both among the best in his position group. Those elite athletic traits are combined with an 84¾-inch wingspan and solid run-defense profile to give any D-line-needy team a lot to work with. The question is whether and when the pass-rush potential can be untapped in such a physical specimen.
