Packers.com has consulted more than two dozen mock drafts from reputable national outlets and compiled a list of players most frequently mocked as draft selections in the bottom half of the first round (picks 16-32) who would fit Green Bay's potential roster needs.
Between now and draft day, when the Packers own the No. 22 and 28 overall selections in the first round, those players will be profiled with thumbnail sketches and videos known as "Prospect Primers."
Today's player is …
Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia
Height/Weight: 6-6, 341
Key stats: Played in 47 career games over four seasons, recording seven sacks among 12½ tackles for loss.
College honors: Won the Bednarik Award as the nation's best defensive player and the Outland Trophy as the nation's top interior lineman in 2021, to go with several first-team All-America honors.
Background/other info: The stats won't jump off the page for Davis, as he never had more than seven tackles in a game or more than 2½ sacks in any one of his four seasons at Georgia. But the film shows a gigantic, dominant defender in the middle of the nation's best defense, which earned him a slew of accolades following a national championship season. Already touted as a first-round draft pick, the 340-pounder then turned heads by clocking a 4.78 in the 40 at the combine, plus a 32-inch vertical jump. That type of speed and athleticism at his size is practically unheard of. Playing between fellow first-round prospects Travon Walker and Devonte Wyatt, Davis made it nearly impossible for opponents to run the ball inside against the Bulldogs, as he plugged holes and kept Georgia's talented linebackers free to make plays. His ability to get in the backfield disrupted plenty of outside runs, too. He'll be a work in progress as an interior pass rusher, but he's drawn comparisons to accomplished NFL nose tackles such as Haloti Ngata and Vince Wilfork who could instantly become a two-down lineman and run stopper at the next level.
