Packers.com has consulted more than two dozen mock drafts from reputable national outlets and compiled a list of players most frequently mocked as draft selections in the middle portion of the first round (picks 10-20) who could fit Green Bay's potential roster needs.
Between now and draft day, when the Packers own the No. 15 overall selection in the first round, those players will be profiled with thumbnail sketches and videos known as "Prospect Primers."
Today's player is …
Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
Height/Weight: 6-4½, 249
Key stats: Set Notre Dame's career records for tight ends with 180 catches for 2,099 yards and 18 TDs over three seasons.
College honors: Named first-team AP All-American and finalist for John Mackey Award, given to nation's top tight end, in 2022.
Background/other info: Over 24 games the past two seasons, had more catches (138), receiving yards (1,649) and TDs (16) than any tight end in the country. In addition to setting Notre Dame's career records in all three categories, also owns the school's single-season marks, with 71 catches and 840 yards in 2021, along with nine TDs in 2022. Considered an all-around tight end as a blocker and pass catcher who provided his share of help in the run game for the Fighting Irish. Also has plenty of highlights making contested catches down the field, as he failed to catch a pass of at least 20 yards in only four games each of the last two years while posting five 100-yard performances. Will become the seventh tight end from Notre Dame drafted in the last 11 years, but likely the first chosen in the first round since Tyler Eifert (No. 13 overall, Cincinnati) in 2013.
